Volvo Car’s global sales in February reached a record high of 51,286 vehicles.

In February, the Recharge series (pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles) led the global sales growth of Volvo Cars, accounting for 40% of the global sales of Volvo Cars. Among them, the sales of pure electric vehicles of Volvo Cars increased by 187% year-on-year, accounting for 19%.

From the market point of view, in February, Volvo cars performed strongly in the US market, with sales increasing by 38% compared with last February, reaching 8,560 vehicles, of which Recharge models accounted for 29%. The sales growth of Volvo Cars in the US market is mainly driven by SUV series models, but it is also partly due to the decline of the company’s production and sales due to supply chain restrictions in February last year.

The sales volume of Volvo cars in China reached 13,066 vehicles, up 50% year-on-year, of which Recharge models accounted for 9%. Part of the reason for the strong growth of the company’s sales in China is that the timing of the Spring Festival affected the sales in February 2022. The company’s sales in Europe reached 21,278 vehicles, up 9% year-on-year, of which Recharge models accounted for 64%.

In terms of best-selling models, in February, XC60 II was the best-selling model of Volvo Cars in the world, with sales reaching 16,103 (compared with 13,503 in the same period of 2022), followed by XC40 and XC90 II with sales of 15,435 and 7,120 respectively (compared with 12,611 and 5,582 in the same period of 2022).

Volvo Cars previously said that 2023 will be a crucial year for the company to further accelerate its transformation. Although there will still be challenges such as global turmoil, uncertainty and rising prices in 2023, Volvo Cars’ retail sales in 2023 are expected to achieve double-digit steady growth through efforts to reduce costs and increase efficiency on a global scale, without any unexpected circumstances such as supply chain interruption.
