Amphibious landing operation is one of the most complicated combat styles in modern warfare. Landing ships, as the "vanguard" carrying landing soldiers and amphibious equipment, play an important role. In the past, the landing ships of the People’s Navy were mainly 073 and 072 landing ships, which were limited by the equipment performance. The main landing mode was offshore plane landing. In 2008, China’s first amphibious dock landing ship "Kunlun Mountain Ship" entered the ranks, marking a revolutionary change in the amphibious combat mode of the navy.

Type 071 amphibious dock landing ship is developed, designed and produced by China itself, with a maximum displacement of nearly 20,000 tons. The external design of the ship is concise and capable, with good overall stealth capability, and its maneuverability and seaworthiness are outstanding. Weapons are equipped with new naval gun systems, short-range gun systems and short-range missile jamming devices, which have certain defense capabilities.
The main mission of this type of ship is to carry out three-dimensional landing operations; It can also undertake non-war military operations such as emergency rescue and disaster relief and ocean escort.

The Kunlun Mountain Ship, as the formation command ship, carried two large transport planes and a new domestic air-cushion landing craft, and for the first time carried out dock flooding, boat retraction and air-cushion landing craft in the open sea.

From the Gulf of Thailand to the South Indian Ocean, the search and rescue officers and soldiers braved the harsh sea conditions, regardless of the sun and rain, and searched and rescued the lost compatriots 24 hours a day.

They have successively created records such as organizing hovercraft formations to enter and leave the mother ship and carrier aircraft for the first time, and organizing multiple hovercraft to land in multiple directions at the same time for the first time. They have innovatively studied the tactics and training methods such as "controlling the network with the net and managing the line", and made great efforts to build an amphibious combat system with amphibious dock landing ships and large hovercraft as "dual cores".

On February 1st, 2016, a new member was added to the amphibious dock landing ship "Family", and Yimengshan Ship was listed in the Navy’s East China Sea Fleet. So far, the China Navy has had several large amphibious dock landing ships. On March 7 of the same year, Wuyishan Ship, Culaishan Ship and Wutaishan Ship entered the ranks at the same time, and they were able to undertake the task of transporting landing soldiers across the sea and landing on the island in landing operations.
After years of development, the amphibious assault equipment force system has been continuously strengthened, and new progress has been made in the construction of supporting equipment forces, making it an amphibious landing force that no country in the world can underestimate.
